THE PROJECT:
The Somers Housing Authority's (SHA) "Wood Crest Elderly Housing Expansion Phase II" initiative, includes the new construction of 34 additional units of high-quality, affordable elderly rental housing in one large building on vacant land next to the new Wood Crest facilty (71 Battle Street). It also includes 10 new garden style units to be constructed on SHA owned property at 53 Battle Street.
The new units will be similar in style to the current large building and garden style apartments of Woodcrest Phase I.
All of the units will be made available and rented to a range of low and moderate income senior and disabled people.
Construction is expected to begin in Summer 2011.
